With three shared universes currently competing for box office dominance, there are plenty of superhero movies hitting theaters. As such, it can be hard for each new blockbuster to stand out among the crowd. That's one problem the Deadpool franchise doesn't have, as the fourth-wall breaking title character functions on a frequency all his own. Deadpool 2 helped to expand the world of the property, while also giving Wade Wilson a chance to grow and set up the eventual formation of the proper X-Force. But it turns out that Ryan Reynolds had another plan for the sequel, and it completely out of this world. As he tells it,
My first pitch to the studio was not met very well. I pitched them that for the sequel, the whole story of the movie would be Deadpool trying to steal the big, red chair from The Voice. And they were like 'That's just the dumbest thing ever.' But the second one, it was great because it was always fun to pitch to the studio.
Talk about a bold choice. The emotional story about loss and family eventually adopted for Deadpool 2 was probably the right choice, but you can't help appreciating how random Ryan Reynolds is willing to be. Even if that means basing the sequel around an NBC singing competition show.
Ryan Reynolds' comments from his recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will no doubt delight the many fans of the Merc with a Mouth. The Deadpool franchise stands out because it doesn't take itself too seriously, and is constantly going on comedic tangents. Making the highly anticipated sequel a giant The Voice gag is extremely on brand, but unfortunately didn't fare well with the folks over at 20th Century Fox.
Ultimately Deadpool 2 pivoted to a more emotional and character-driven story, although it was still thoroughly ridiculous. After Vanessa was killed in the film's first act, Wade Wilson was directionless and suicidal. This inspires him to finally join the X-Men, and hopefully find a family in the process. Deadpool might not have been ready to become a bonafide superhero, but he ultimately finds his tribe throughout Deadpool 2, including newcomers like Cable, Domino, and Firefist.

It should be interesting to see what's next for Deadpool, and the crazy way Ryan Reynolds pitches his next installment. It looks like the character will likely pop up next in X-Force, with Drew Goddard attached to direct. But 20th Century Fox is keeping its cards close to the chest, instead focusing on reshoots for movies like X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants.

Keri Russell Brags That She Has The "Coolest Costume" In Star Wars: Episode IX
The Star Wars galaxy has been known to boast some awesome threads for its characters, human or alien, throughout its storied history. In that galaxy far, far away, theres certainly a lot of wardrobe choices that help distance the look of the science fiction juggernaut from that of our very own. But among them all, there are those select few that we know and love above all others, and in the face of that knowledge, Keri Russell sounds like shes of the opinion that on top of having a ball acting in Star Wars: Episode IX, shes possibly got one of the coolest get-ups in the blockbuster.
Its a bold claim in a world where Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, and even Queen Padme Amidala all exist, with their own outlandish and beautiful costumes, but during a recent late night appearance promoting her recent gig on Broadway, Russell started talking about her time on the set of director J.J. Abrams concluding chapter to the Skywalker Saga. During that talk with Stephen Colbert, Keri Russell made the following claim while talking about her time away from her family shooting Star Wars: Episode IX:
[My son] didn't come to the set because we were shooting in London at Pinewood, where they shot the original. But I do have the coolest costume, I will say that.
Now surely, this could mean that Russell thinks that she has the coolest costume in her own career, or that it's just "the coolest" in a general sense. However, one cannot be sure, as during her time on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert she was bombarded with questions both real and fake when it came to Star Wars: Episode IX. Seeing as everyone on the set of a film in this very franchise has a black belt in secrecy, and taking into account that Keri Russells time on The Americans also taught her how to walk and talk like a spy, the truth could be extremely illusive.
For as much as we don't know about Star Wars: Episode IX, what we do know is that the Star Wars tradition of far flung species and locales, accompanied by designer fashions that look like nothing weve seen on Earth will be maintained. This especially applies when considering that Star Wars: Episode IXs costume designer, Michael Kaplan, has been on board for this entire trilogy of new Star Wars films, and anyone who designer outfits like that of Laura Derns Vice Admiral Holdo from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, or even Kylo Ren's mask from Star Wars: The Force Awakens is more than capable of delivering what could be the coolest costume in the galaxy.

Looks Like Harley Quinn And Joker Are Definitely Breaking Up In Birds Of Prey
The DC Universe has had a fascinating run in theaters, full of peaks and valleys. One of those valleys is David Ayer's Suicide Squad, which failed to meet fan expectations after its fantastic Queen-infused trailer. Despite its poor critical reception, Suicide Squad still made a ton of money, introduced iconic characters, and even earned an Oscar in the process.
The breakout star is Suicide Squad was definitely Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, as the iconic villain was adapted onto the silver screen for the first time. Warner Bros. has big plans for Harley, and she's returning to the universe with Cathy Yan's Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The long subtitle seemingly hints at Harley's emancipation from the Joker, and now an actor from the film's set seems to have confirmed their breakup on social media. Check it out.
Actor Robert Catrini is reportedly playing Stefano Galante in Birds of Prey, and is therefore privy to insider information from the film's active set. And from what he's gathered from the upcoming DC blockbuster, Harley is officially dropping Mr. J, and making new friends.
Robert Catrini's tweet is sure to pique the interest of DC fans, and seemingly confirm the fan theories that have been circulating online. Birds of Prey's crazy long subtitle made it clear that changes were happening for Harley Quinn, with comic book fans assuming its related to a separation from The Joker. In the comics, Harley is often a victim of her puddin's abuse, leaning on female companions like Poison Ivy when things get rough. While that wasn't a major plot line in Suicide Squad, it stands to reason that Harley might want some independence in the female-centric blockbuster. Especially since Jared Leto isn't set to appear.
Aside from Birds of Prey's subtitle, photos from the film's set have also teased Harley's separation from The Joker. Margot Robbie was recently caught filming a scene from Cathy Yan's blockbuster, with Harley's tattoos seemingly revealing that she's called it quits. One tattoo that reads "Puddin + Harley" has her nickname for Joker crossed out, so Harley is changing both her personal life and appearance in the new movie.
It should be fascinating to see what comes next for Harley Quinn, as Margot Robbie's DC character has a ton of potential projects coming up. Aside from Birds of Prey, there were previously a number of movies announced for the fan favorite villain. These include the Gotham City Sirens movie, a Joker/Harley flick, and possibly her own solo flick. Warner Bros' plans are largely a mystery after Birds of Prey and The Batman, so only time will tell what comes to fruition.
