Ralph Breaks The Internet Has Screened, Here's What People Are Saying
Disney Animation's big release for this fall is Ralph Breaks the Internet, a sequel to the beloved Wreck-It Ralph. Trading video game jokes for internet jokes, the sequel has built a lot of hype as it approaches theaters. The movie has officially screened for critics, so does it live up to the hype? Yes! Or at least for the most part. Let's see what critics are saying, starting in-house with CinemaBlend's own Eric Eisenberg.
According to Eisenberg, Ralph Breaks the Internet is a success. The sequel is funny, creative, and charming while keeping the emotional center that made the first movie so memorable. Wreck-It Ralph got a lot of mileage from goofy video game jokes, but the core was about outsiders Ralph and Vanellope. It sounds like the sequel will live up to that standard.
Eisenberg walked out of the screening happy, and while it's great to know that the movie is good, I know what people really want to hear about is that Disney Princess scene. One critic made a point to give that scene a shout-out, going as far as to say it might be the most memorable scene of 2018.
Overall, the reaction seems to be that Ralph Breaks the Internet is a great follow-up, but there's some debate as to whether it's better than the original. At least one critic wasn't so sure, but still felt that it was a good movie.
Critics are also letting people know to stick to the end of the credits. It looks like we are in for some after-credits scenes, and it sounds like fans won't want to miss them. The movie also contains some subtext about toxic friendships in the age of the internet, so those worried that the sequel would just be a vehicle for (clever) jokes about the internet can rest easy.
Does this make the wait for Ralph Breaks the Internet more or less long? Well, we are almost at the finish line, because Wreck-It Ralph 2 arrives in theaters on November 21. To learn more about the movie, here's everything we know about Ralph Breaks the Internet.
